It's In the Bag- or Not It's almost enough to make your head spin! The
airlines keep changing the rules! One Bag or Two? Now that’s a Question! Yikes, it was bad enough when we had to make sure our two bags where under 50 lbs. (with dive gear that’s a challenge!). Now, they may or may not charge for checked bags. Each airline has specific rules and fees. Some airlines have now started charging for the 2nd checked bag , some are even charging for both checked bags. These rules are currently for domestic flights, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they didn’t expand that to any checked bags.
Also keep in mind that you will want to check the luggage rules for all legs for your fights. Some destinations include flying on small commuter flights to get to the island. The smaller the plane, the smaller the bag that they can accommodate. You should also keep the baggage fees in mind when comparing the cost of tickets. The airline may be offering lower priced tickets, but charging more for the luggage, seat assignments etc. Don't forget to pack your own stale peanuts- they charge for those too! |
Escape from the Snow! The leaves on the trees are starting to turn and soon it will be time for sledding? Nah, -- time for DIVING! That sounds better. Wouldn't it be fun to send an e-mail back to the friends at home from, oh let's say, Belize? Dave and I are headed to
Ramon's Village on Ambergris Cay and
would love to have you join us. We will be diving on the world's
second largest barrier reef, seeing so The fun doesn't end when you get off the boat. You can explore the village of San Pedro at your leisure. It's an easy walk to the "downtown" area where you will find great local restaurants and shops. The local craftsman create wonderful wood carvings. You'll have a tough time making up your mind of which to take home. If you are looking for the "golden arches", you won't find them here. San Pedro, our home for the week, is very laid back and the familiar franchise restaurants have not reached here. You won't be disappointed. The local cuisine is great dining and reasonable. Dave is already licking his lips for a conch burrito.
Space is filling up, so you will want to reserve your space soon. Give Carolyn a call if you have questions or to make your reservations. |

County Diver & Adventure Scuba's Saturday, November 8, 2008 What to Bring: |
In the past I've always done a slideshow/video for the party. This year I am going try something different. I would love to have everyone send me a few of their favorite dive/travel photos for this year's party. I'll compile them into a presentation for everyone to enjoy. You can e-mail your photos to carolynb@divemontana.com or drop them off at the shop. Everyone who contributes a photo will be included in a drawing for a "fabulous" prize! |
